Honestly, I Slept On It
Before I moved to Florida, I made a list of all the places I wanted to eat during my (at the time) limited stay in the sunshine state. The Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom was one of the first restaurants added to my list, but 10 months later, and I still hadn’t made it to dine at this colonial spot.
Contrary to what I used to believe, Liberty Tree Tavern has an all you can eat option along with a la carte menu items. Traditional New England dishes create a menu that reminds me of home. Everything around us looked and smelled decadent and delicious, it was hard to decide what to get!
After a hard week, my friend Taylor and I decided to FINALLY treat ourselves to the classic, all-you-care-to-enjoy, American FEAST.
I Love Bread
The rolls were just warm bread and butter with fresh sea salt on top, but let’s be real. I could live on bread and butter.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, a good salad on a hot park day is everything! In preparation for this meal, I hadn’t eaten anything all day, so I dove in. The dressing was light & fresh, a sweet, honey mustard vinaigrette is how I would best describe it. Other than that, it was just a classic salad, but as always, dressing and fresh veggies are key.
Patriot’s Platter
You know, I did feel pretty patriotic as I ate this dish. I felt like I was partaking in the great American pastime: eating as much as you possibly can for literally no reason! (It was awesome)
This platter comes with turkey, pot roast, pork, a seasonal vegetable, stuffing, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Every last bit of it was delicious- I’m not a huge fan of pork, but even the pork was well cooked! All the food was flavorful, warm and served quickly. I feel this is important in the parks where time is valuable.
The macaroni and cheese gets an honorable mention, as it was not the same mac & cheese served everywhere else on property. It had a much lighter sauce and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The best part was probably the mashed potatoes and gravy because they’re mashed potatoes and gravy- you can’t really screw that classic favorite up.
I Wasn’t Ready
Liberty Tree Tavern is well-known for their oooey gooey toffee cake. This cake was the main reason I wanted to visit the New England themed spot. Honestly, I was not ready for how good it was. Served in a little skillet, the warm vanilla cake is loaded with an ooey gooey toffee filling. Then it’s topped with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream, toffee pieces, and chocolate sauce.
I’m not ashamed to say I was able to finish the majority of it on my own. If you want to go to just try the cake, you can! It’s only $8.00 a la carte, a bargain for such one of the best treats at Walt Disney World.
Dining Score
10/10
For about $35 per person, I think this meal is worth it. I’m normally torn on all-you-care-to-enjoy options because it’s hard for me to eat enough to make up for the price. However, I don’t feel that the cost at Liberty Tree was too high for the amount of food and the experience I received. Also, I love that there are a la carte options if you want to enjoy this colonial gem (and the oooey gooey of course) without the unlimited food! If you’re planning a vacation especially around the holidays, I would suggest Liberty Tree Tavern every time!
Until The Next Adventure!
