Magic Kingdom’s Most Underrated Restaurant
Walking around the Magic Kingdom, I often hear people face the same dilemma. Where to go to eat? After asking, I always hear the same suggestions given in response. Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and the Crystal Palace are the places I hear the most, but I have never heard someone put this underrated spot on their list.
My favorite Magic Kingdom restaurant has unique menu options, castle views, and great service. I’m often able to snag same day reservations, and some days, I don’t need a reservation at all. It’s a great place to check when looking for last-minute table service or when you want fresh options or comfort food & classic American dishes.
The Plaza Restuarant
Were you able to guess from my clues which restaurant I was writing about? If so, you probably already know what makes this spot so great! The service here is always incredible and I have never had a bad meal. I love this spot because it has traditional, American food that’s often associated with the parks, but also has lighter options, which I enjoy on hot, Florida days when heavy theme-park food isn’t my top pick.
What to Eat!
The Plaza Restaurant menu has so many delicious choices. It’s one of the few places in MK where I struggle to choose my meal. Here, I have had healthy meals & cheat days, both enjoyed equally. On my first trip here, I tried the tuna salad & grilled chicken sandwiches, which made me fall in love with this quaint spot. The tuna comes on a fresh croissant, which makes for the perfect lunch. Plus, the grilled chicken sandwich turns the ordinary into something special with bright and flavorful bruschetta.
On my last trip, I was in the mood for something refreshing after a day of heavy snacking. I got the strawberry-chicken salad and it did not disappoint! The vegetables were crisp, the chicken was perfectly cooked and the white zinfandel vinaigrette dressing put the whole thing over the top. I would order this again, and since there aren’t many salads in the Magic Kingdom, it’s likely I will.
Matt got the grilled Reuben, his go-to choice on any menu. As a Reuben lover, Matt said this one stood up to some of the best!
The Plaza club has three different kinds of meats piled high on Texas toast and is served with crunchy, handmade potato chips! The sandwich was delicious & it was easy to taste that the chips were made in-house.
We also had macaroni and cheese at our table, which was the typical & beloved Walt Disney World mac & cheese. This one comes topped with baked honey barbecue brisket, which is very similar to the dish that you might remember from Friar’s Nook (RIP brisket mac, we loved you!)
Something Sweet!
I’m always stuffed after eating here, so I prefer to get my dessert after walking around the parks for a bit, but if you’re in the mood for something sweet, the Plaza has you covered. As it’s located right next to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, you can bet creamy, frozen confections are on the menu. Bottomless milkshakes (for only $9.00) and sundaes galore make this the perfect place for dinner and dessert! (or just dessert, a castle and ice cream is always fine by me!)
Dining Score
10/10
I give the Plaza Restaurant a 10/10 every time. It is the most underrated spot to dine in Magic Kingdom, and the variety and quality combined with the cost and the service prove that over and over. To view the entire, up-to-date menu, or to book a reservation, head to the Plaza Restuarant page on the Walt Disney World website.
P.S. If anyone from Walt Disney World is reading this- add breakfast to this location! I want to eat large Mickey waffles on Main Street U.S.A. and I’m sure I’m not alone!
Until the Next Adventure!
