May favorites are HERE and I could not be more thrilled to share my best of from the month that just passed us by. As a Disney local, foodie, and content creator, I’m always sharing pieces of my day online. But I truly cherish the chance to reflect once a month on the moments, pieces, bites, stories, and more that made my month so special!

Favorite Home Purchase

This month was a big month here on the homefront. Since January, we have been on such a special journey; transforming our first house into a home. We came into this new space with grateful hearts and tons of trinkets, but little in the way of furniture! So each month, we add new things to our home with a focus on pieces that can last. Furniture that is beautiful and also functional for our family.

My May favorites would not be complete without sharing my favorite purchase for our home – and this was a BIG one. We bought our first couch! A huge beige sectional that will serve as a place for our family to gather for many years to come! Our favorite part is the cuddler (how cute is that?!) a large, corner seat, similar to a loveseat that’s perfect for two! It’s unique and I cannot wait to curl up there with a cup of tea and a good book.

May Favorites, Book

Another journey I have been on since January? Reconnecting with my love of reading. I had some slow months for sure, but in May, I really had an uptick in my page count. I finished my beloved Bridgerton series and finished five books, but one stood out above the rest.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was everything! The story of a young reporter and a glamorous star from old Hollywood truly had twists and turns I never saw coming. I loved every second and could not put this book down. It inspired me to immediately run to Barnes & Noble to purchase other stories penned by the author, Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Favorite Spinning Carousel Co. Product

Star Wars inspired necklace from Spinning Carousel Co. featuring Josie Maida, @josiemaida

On my list of May favorites, I have a very special collection from my jewelry brand, Spinning Carousel Co. As fans of a galaxy far, far away know, May 4th is a celebration for our favorite characters from the Stars! Our Saga Among the Stars collection features three of the most powerful ladies in the galaxy.

Shooting this collection and seeing the love for it amongst our customers was a real joy. I have loved wearing these pieces in and out of the Disney Parks and cannot wait for what lies ahead for our brands this summer!

Favorite Bite

Trader Joe's Gluten Free Muffins, Cinnamon Coffee Cake

As a foodie, this category is the hardest to write each month. I eat a lot, at a ton of fun places around my community, state, and the globe. So picking a favorite bite for my May favorites really came down to one thing. Which bite truly stood out to me? Made me take a second to think – I can’t wait for the next.

This month, I gave up gluten to see if it would alleviate some health concerns. It truly hasn’t been too challenging, but I’ve quickly learned that many gluten-free swaps are simply not craveable. However, this bite is one that is delicious, for those who eat gluten-free, and those who do not.

The second I saw the packaging, I knew these were coming home with me. They looked so incredibly moist and soft – and they did not disappoint. Each gluten-free muffin is studded with rich bits of sugar that add the best bit of texture to their soft tops. Inside the muffin, small moist bits of cinnamon sugar creates pockets of sweetness throughout. I LOVE these muffins, and they have been such a welcome addition to my morning breakfast plate. Anything that makes me excited to get out of bed is something worth celebrating!

Favorite Travel

Josie Maida and Kait Killibrew at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Disney besties and founders of Spinning Carousel Co.

This month René and I didn’t travel much out of Orlando, but we had a ton of people come to visit us, which always makes our own city feel like a new adventure! We traveled right down the road from our house for a staycation with my best friend and business partner, Kait Killebrew, who is the co-owner and co-founder of Spinning Carousel Co!

Her husband and René have become fast friends, so we all decided a weekend at Disney’s Contemporary Resort would be a blast.

It’s been a dream of ours for as long as we can remember to spend a night in the main tower – so two nights were even better! We loved every moment by the pool and took morning strolls to Magic Kingdom. Steakhouse 71 to go by the pool felt like a true luxury, and we couldn’t get enough time on our balcony, watching the parks and chatting about life.

May Favorites, Moment

May Favorites, Favorite Memory Josie Maida @josiemaida

This photo, this moment, was the most dear to me this month. And probably forever. This month, my beloved grandmother, my Mimi came to Orlando for the first time to visit me! It was such a delight having her in our home and being able to show and share with her the life we have built. This sweet photo of René with our Mimi at dinner is a new favorite photo from such a wonderful night.

We dined at Kona Cafe in Disney’s Polynesian Resort as a family with my dad and sister along as well. It was such a great night with family, and is for sure the moment I’m most thankful for from this awesome month!
