June favorites, incoming! I can’t believe it’s that time of month again, and that another whole month has passed us by. Every month seems to go by faster than the one before it, and June was no exception.
This month, I was very into doing things that helped me to feel my best, both mentally and physically. I haven’t spoken about it much online, but I have been participating in a very, very soft 75 soft. With a goal of creating some new and sustainable healthy habits for myself! And, in the last few months, I have slowly fallen in love with reading again. June helped me to foster that hobby.
This June, I also had the opportunity to travel a bit, and of course, try new foods and fun experiences. The newsletter might have the most eclectic mix of favorites yet, but you won’t want to miss a single one!
Favorite home purchase
Last month in my May 2023 favorites, I talked about how it had been a big month on the homefront. Last month we bought a couch, which was a huge purchase for us. So this month, we really didn’t buy much of anything.
However, there is an item from Amazon I bought a few months back that I have been obsessed with this month. In my office, I added a golden clothing rack to hold all of my favorite fandom pieces. From my McDonald’s jacket to my Star Wars jean jacket and some vintage finds, it’s so fun to keep them on display.
I loved this one especially because of the flat shelves located on the top and the bottom. They provide even more space and are a super cute spot for me to hold all of my trinkets! It’s the perfect size for my space and I love the ability to switch the clothes out for a different feel whenever I want.
Also, according to my sister-in-law who set it up for me, it was a super easy set up too! I was so pleasantly surprised by this product, and after what felt like hours of research, I’m so thrilled I found the right fit for my space – hopefully, it will fill the same needs in your home too!
P.S. I KNOW the EPCOT office has been looking sparse since the move. Hopefully, this next month will bring some new decor!
June favorites, book
Yes, Twilight! (If you get the reference, I love you.)
Yeah, I was a Twihard growing up. I went to Twilight conventions, wore Twilight merch, and of course, was a fixture at the midnight movie AND DVD premiers in my area. So this month, for the first time since the 8th grade, I reread the Twilight Saga.
At first, I was worried that the book wouldn’t live up to the hype that young Josie had created in my mind – but to my surprise – I think I may have enjoyed the books more as an adult than as an 8th grader. As a kid, I remember it taking me forever to get through New Moon, as I wasn’t really interested without the presence of Edward, but as an adult, I liked the book way more than I remembered.
I love Stephanie Meyer – even though she has never published Forever Dawn and so many other stories I want to read – and I don’t care that people say Twilight is terrible. For me, it embodied why I got back into reading – for fun – for a story that I enjoyed, that made me feel disconnected from reality for a while.
If you’re looking to reread or read for the first time (!!!), you can buy the whole set here on Amazon for pretty cheap – with Midnight Sun, Life and Death, and The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner included!
Favorite Spinning Carousel Co. Product
It’s no secret that our Leader of the Club earrings have been our most successful Spinning Carousel Co. product yet, so I was beyond thrilled when we introduced silver to our shop! I have been a fan of wearing gold lately, but I love to mix metals.
Since the release of silver, I’ve been wearing them a ton. It’s given me an excuse to wear all my other favorite silver baubles too!
June favorites, travel destination
This month, I saw a little more of my state! As a Florida-based foodie, I love when I can explore new cities. This month took me to Fort Lauderdale. I know I want to share a blog post on that whole entire trip and all of the fun things I did. For now, I’ll tell you about the hotel, which totally made the trip.
I stayed in a gorgeous, huge room with a view of the ocean at the W Fort Lauderdale. I loved everything about this hotel. They did host me for the trip, but I can share with 100% honesty that this hotel far exceeded my expectations.
I stay in a lot of hotels. But I often have a hard time finding hotels that make the experience something special. At the W, they have a Whatever, Whenever line, and they mean it. From robes to forgotten toothpaste, makeup wipes, and midnight snacks, they had everything I needed. Plus, the easy beach access with free chairs, towels, and umbrellas on the beach. Oh, and a rooftop pool with a view of the ocean. I could keep going and bore you to tears with all of the amenities. But basically, book this spot for your next Florida stay – or va – cation!
Favorite Disney Parks experience
This month, my business partner Kait and I went to stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and did something on our Disney Bucket List. The Wilderness Back Trail Adventure! This segway tour takes guests on a tour of this historic Disney property. We learned so much, and as total Disney adults, that would have been enough. But, we also had the chance to learn to ride a segway, which was super fun!
I’ll be honest, it was more difficult than I had expected. It took a lot of balance and core strength, but once we got the hang of it, it really was fun. And only slightly terrifying.
Whether it’s your first trip to Disney, or if you’re an avid park-goer looking for something new to do, this is a great activity. To learn more about this experience, check out my blog post on Spinning Carousel Co.
